NEXT EVENT

2012

Schedule TBA

2011 was a banner year of programming at Center Portion, featuring the Mayoral Tutorial, a screening of indie film, Waste Land, and the Holiday concerts with The Crooked Mouth, just to name a few. We are still putting together this year's schedule, and look forward to hosting original writing and performance in our Logan Square space.

There is plenty going on elsewhere in Chicago, and here are a few things Sheila Donohue recommends checking out:

It's a Girl

with Coat and Sheila Donohue

SATURDAY, October 2nd — 8:00pm

One of our favorite Chicago bands is back at Center Portion for Homecoming! Join us on October 2nd as we drink in the unclassifiable, extremely entertaining foursome, It's a Girl—with Jason McInnes, Miki Greenberg, Elizabeth Breen, and Lindsay Weinberg. It's their only show this fall—do not miss your chance to see them in 2010! No one encourages gussying up more than It's a Girl, so deck yourself out, pin a corsage on your date, and pile up your hair. See if that old prom dress you've been holding onto still fits. Let's find out just how disheveled the dancing can make us.

Adding to the musical mayhem is Coat, fronted by Libby Reed, who sings and writes songs about sad-eyed little children, the media machine, the existence of loneliness, and the joy of finding your own ideas. Read more about her here

Performance poet and hostess Sheila Donohue will also take the stage, reading her latest batch of poems.

It's a winning combination and excellent excuse to get your autumnal groove on. We can't wait to see you.
