NEXT EVENT

2012

Schedule TBA

2011 was a banner year of programming at Center Portion, featuring the Mayoral Tutorial, a screening of indie film, Waste Land, and the Holiday concerts with The Crooked Mouth, just to name a few. We are still putting together this year's schedule, and look forward to hosting original writing and performance in our Logan Square space.

There is plenty going on elsewhere in Chicago, and here are a few things Sheila Donohue recommends checking out:

A night of music & poetry

It's a Girl, Midnight Moxie & Sheila Donohue

Saturday, October 17

8:00 - 11:00 p.m.

It's a Girl—Elizabeth Breen, Miki Greenberg, Jason McInnes, and Lindsay Weinberg

They're back! And we couldn't be more excited about it. On October 17th, unclassifiable Chicago indie band, It's a Girl, returns to Center Portion for an old-fashioned, pre-halloween, dress up, everything-but-the-sleeping-over slumber party! The music will abound, as will the joyful insanity of grown-ups accessing the costume box. All the equipment you need to get your fashion freak on will be provided. And if you're feeling squeamish about dressing up in public, come just to witness what the band will be wearing. We can only imagine.

Midnight MoxieNia O'Reilly Amandes, Meg O'Reilly Amandes, and Sarah Chang

An all-girl doo-wop, rock & roll band. What more could you possibly need? The only other question to ask is: will they be resplendent in polka dots on the 17th? You'll have to come to find out.

Sheila Donohue will perform a new collection of poems inspired by girl-ness in all of its forms and functions.
